Shoutouts

Recognise your peers and reports for doing great work. It’s important, and it leaves a feel good feeling. It’s also really easy. Here’s how to go about it:

What deserves a Shoutout?

This space is meant to highlight big wins, impactful contributions, and moments where someone went above and beyond. Things like nailing a project deadline, turning around a tough client issue, or someone doing something that really reflects our values and moves Significa forward.

Occasionally, there have been shoutouts for nice little gestures (which we absolutely appreciate!), but we want to keep this space special, so that those big moments really stand out and people get the recognition they deserve. By diluting this channel with more day-to-day moments of gratitude, those impactful moments of significant recognition get diluted.

Again, we love those little moments of gratitude (such as thanking your buddy for returning from vacation with some chocolates to keep you sweet). Please do continue to share them loudly and proudly, but in #2-lounge Slack channel.

How to give a shoutout

Head over to our #0-shoutouts channel in Slack. Be aware, though, that this channel should only be used for sharing recognition - this way it's all in one place and doesn't get lost in channel discussions. This channel (and only this channel) gets read by the platform, which means that these moments of recognition and celebration sharing stay on the record - great for your one-on-ones and reviews.

Within the platform, you'll be able to see the people you've recognised and also your feed of received recognition in your profiles. Managers will also see those of their teams.

How to write a great shoutout

Much like feedback, being specific about the action and the impact it made works out very nicely for a shoutout.

  • Be specific: What exactly did the person do? Make sure to tag (@) the person who did something awesome, and include one of the two keywords - “kudos” and “shoutout”.

  • Share the impact: Why did it matter? What did it change or improve?

  • Values: Add the Significa value you think their awesomeness particularly resonated!

It’s a simple as that, recognising others for their great work couldn’t be simpler.
